KEF’S 10th CREW workshop

Kenya Education fund provides high school scholarships to bright financially challenged student in Kenya. We also offer auxilliary programs ie: life-skills, career readiness, reproductive health and entrepreneurship workshops, in person with scholars through school visits, parents meetings and liason/Principals teachers meetings all to better the odds of our students breaking the cycle of poverty.

Kenya Education Fund (KEF) invests in the smooth transition which is essential for our students as they delve into post-high school life. It is against this background that we carry out the Career, Reproductive health, Entrepreneurship Workshop (CREW)- an extension of our initiative to give students an experience beyond the confines of classrooms and develop them into holistic beings. It is tailor made for the newly graduated students about to enter university and colleges, it covers : Career readiness, Reproductive health, Entrepreneurship and Mentorship. They are supplemented with Effective communication ,Stress management and Design thinking.

This week we had one hundred and twenty nine students from the Class of 2021 hosted at Africa Nazarene University for seven days. The group was a vibrant cohort with social media being taken over with their wonderful remarks about Kenya Education Fund.

Through the facilitation by professionals specialized in the different topics outlined in the program, the sessions took a wide perspective that were to consequently foster a specific discipline. We had CV writing by Mr. Davyline Busuru (KEPSA), Entrepreneurship by a panel of entrepreneurs and professionals in different industries, Design thinking by Africa Nazarene University lecturers Ms. Jane and Mr. Ngila, Drug abuse and Impact by Mr. Odipo, Effective communication by Ms. Pascalia Maingi, Stress management by Ms. Emma Njeri, Reproductive health by Mr. John Kiarie ,Civic Governance and leadership by Mr. Pius Kotieno. Thanks to these amazing humans, our students got a window to open up, awaken their curiosity and intrigue their thought processes resulting to rich conversations preparing them life after high school.

It was an overwhelming moment when the Country Director announced that all those who had applied for a '‘MOCK’ university scholarship earlier that week had been awarded Bridge scholarships. This means that their journey as KEF beneficiaries would continue for an extra one year for 103 of them.
